In December 2019 the NGO Education, Development and Employment Center EDEC held an opening ceremony of their Sensory Room in Saguramo Day Care Center of Children and Adults with Disabilities “Ialoni”. A Sensory Room is a special room designed to develop a person’s sense, usually through special lighting, music, and objects. Furthermore, it can help children and adults with disabilities to learn to manage their emotions and stress.
With the support of IWAG, the Sensory Room in Saguramo Day Care Center was equipped with ball pit, indoor hammock, soft floor, LCD projector providing shifting colours in a calm way, activity and touch panels etc. The room will enable 20 beneficiaries from 6 years old up to develop physical, social, creative, functional and emotional skills.
The successful concept of the project has been already replicated. Based on the experience from Saguramo, EDEC managed to create another sensory room in their Kutaisi Day Care Center by themselves.
